Take care in choosing your pet removal company. Make sure they have extensive experience of moving to Australia. Ideally, pick a company that has been personally recommended by people who have had a positive experience with them.

Your pets will need an import licence to fly. Make sure it is arranged well in advance.

Depending on where you are planning to live, your pets will need a licence to live in the same area as you and also you may be restricted to the number of animals you are allowed to keep. One pet is usually fine, but greater than this and you may start to restrict the areas you can live in.

Your pets will need to go into quarantine for a minimum of 30 days (Minimum 14 Days for Horses).

Wherever you are planning to live in Australia, your pets will initially be flown into one of 3 quarantine areas - Sydney, Melbourne or Perth. Arranging their transport to your final destination involves careful planning.

You need to take great care in scheduling your pet's inoculations, particularly their booster jabs. If they are done at the wrong time, it is possible that your pet could give a positive test result for a disease that will mean they will not be allowed into Australia. Get some expert advice to ensure that you AND your pets can arrive in your new country as planned.
