Page 1 of 3 An Investor Retirement Visa does not lead to permanent residence in Australia or to Australian citizenship, but it does allow you to live in Australia and work for 20 hours a week while the visa is valid. The visa is valid for 4 years, but it is renewable for currently 4 years at a time. If you are considering applying for an Investor Retirement visa, the principal applicant must be 55 years or older, have no dependants (other than a spouse), and be self-supporting in Australia. You will be required to hold private medical cover, which is equivalent to Australia's health system Medicare, for the duration of their visa. Before applying for an Investor Retirement visa, you need to contact a State or Territory government agency to obtain sponsorship.
