There are other family visas available such as skilled sponsored visas either permanent or provisional. These are aimed at those who have a skill currently required by the department of immigration and also have family living in Australia. Child visas are as the name suggests for children whose parent(s) are Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents or Eligible New Zealand citizens. In some cases if the child is born to an Australian Citizen, Australian Citizenship maybe a better option rather than applying for a child visa. Aged Dependent Relative is for persons who are of retiring age (as defined in Australia) who are dependent on a family member in Australia for all or most of their living costs. Usually those on a pension or other similar income or own their own property would not qualify for this visa. Carer Visa is for those who need to enter into Australia to care for a sick relative. The relative must undergo a medical first to ascertain whether their condition warrants a carer. © Grist International 2009 - Click Here for Terms and Condition of Website Usage
