Resident Return Visas are primarily for Permanent Residents whose current permanent residency visa has expired and they wish to travel outside of Australia, but still be able to return to Australia as a permanent resident. In order to qualify for this visa you must have been resident in Australia for at least 2 years in the last 5 years before you apply. If you are granted this visa it is valid for 5 years and is renewable again providing you meet the residency in Australia criteria. For those who don't meet the 2 year residency criteria there is a possibility you could meet the criteria for a 3 month resident return visa, providing there are compelling and compassionate reasons for any absence out of Australia of greater than 3 months. © Grist International 2009 - Click Here for Terms and Condition of Website Usage
